House Extension – Dublin
Product: St. Ives Cream Rustica bricks
Category: Exteriors / Interiors
A stunning house extension completed in Sandymount, Dublin. We supplied a beautiful St. Ives Cream Rustica brick for our client Studio Red Architects. The new layout is “broken plan” creating both sociable and more private spaces. A sliding door reveals a small, functional study space. The existing house was renovated whilst respecting all original features.
“Whilst the original house has a red-brick elevation to the street, a builders’ (or yellow) brick was used to construct walls behind the front facade. This was a cheaper building product and was rendered over. When selecting a brick to construct the new extension to the rear, the St. Ives was an obvious choice – to tie in with the older brick hierarchy, and also to introduce a soft and textured wall to create the ‘broken-plan’ living area layout. It sits well with the cream polished concrete and oiled oak materials utilised in the scheme” said Nicola Ryan, Director Studio Red Architects.
